Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a man, possibly Philippe II, duc d'Orleans (1674-1723), bust-length by Nicolas de Largillière was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2017. The price achieved of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,585.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolas de Largillière achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La belle Strasbourgeoise in September 2020 with an auction result of EUR 1,570,000.00.

Die Arbeit Portrait of a man, possibly Philippe II, duc d'Orleans (1674-1723), bust-length von Nicolas de Largillière kam im Oktober 2017 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.585,16) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolas de Largillière erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La belle Strasbourgeoise im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.570.000,00.
