Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady as Pomona, traditionally identified as the Marquise de Parabère by Nicolas de Largillière was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 1,230,000.00 (€ 1,097,038.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Other works by Nicolas de Largillière have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2020 the work La belle Strasbourgeoise was auctioned for EUR 1,570,000.00.
