In September 2010 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations, which included the work Shipping on a calm near a harbour by Nicolaas Riegen. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 3,250.00. Admittedly, works by Nicolaas Riegen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch in April 2003 with an auction result of EUR 17,925.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September 2010 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping on a calm near a harbour von Nicolaas Riegen zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 3.250,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicolaas Riegen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A calm: fishermen inspecting their catch im April 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 17.925,00.
