Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of CHF 750.00 (€ 705.39) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of CHF 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas-André Courtois - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young gentleman and lady; he, facing right in green coat and lace cravat, powdered hair en queue; and she, facing left in lace-bordered light blue dress, fur-bordered yellow cloak draped around her shoulders, pearl necklace, pink rose in her powder, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,684.2
