Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a white dress, playing a harp, standing by a column in a landscape by Nathanial Hone the Younger was sold in the Lyons Demesne Works of Art from The Collection ofThe Late Dr. Tony Ryan auction at Christies in London in July 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,780.18) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathanial Hone the Younger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Captain the Hon. Robert Boyle Walsingham, M.P. (1736-1780), full-length, in naval uniform, with a view of Louisbourg, Canada, beyond in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 245,750.00 (€ 394,338.12).
