Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of An Officer by Nicholas Freese was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2010. The price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,027.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicholas Freese - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young officer of a light company, in red uniform with yellow facings, silver epaulettes, black stock and frilled white cravat, black shoulder belt with gilt belt plate, powdered hair; sky background, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 11,250.00 (€ 11,815.77).
