Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, in a brown coat with black collar and yellow waistcoat, powdered wig by Nicholas Freese was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2004. The price achieved of GBP 501.90 (€ 753.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Freese achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young officer of a light company, in red uniform with yellow facings, silver epaulettes, black stock and frilled white cravat, black shoulder belt with gilt belt plate, powdered hair; sky background in December 2008 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 11,815.77).
