Private Collection of James Blanding Sloan | Thence by descent | Michaan's Auctions, California, 9 May 2015, lot 354 and 365 | James Blanding Sloan (1886 – 1975), also known as Blanding Sloan, was an American etcher, printmaker, theatrical designer, educator, painter, and puppeteer. Mukul Dey learnt the technique of intaglio printmaking from Sloan in Chicago in 1916 - 1917.

Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,729.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mukul Dey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Dancers; Musicians), which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,605.55).

Für andere Arbeiten von Mukul Dey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Dancers; Musicians) beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 27.720,00 (€ 23.605,55) versteigert wurde.
