Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2013 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Brief Encounter, Middleburg, Virginia, February 1863 by Mort Künstler. The result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 21,772.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mort Künstler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Keep To Your Sabers, Men! (Generals Custer And Hampton, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863), which sold at auction in April 2012 for USD 98,500.00 (€ 74,457.63).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Brief Encounter, Middleburg, Virginia, February 1863 von Mort Künstler zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 21.772,26) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Mort Künstler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Keep To Your Sabers, Men! (Generals Custer And Hampton, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863) beobachtet, die im April 2012 für USD 98.500,00 (€ 74.457,63) versteigert wurde.
