Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Duke Alexander of Württemberg, Prince of Teck (1804-1885), in blue coat, black waistcoat and cravat, curly fair hair; and his wife Claudine, Countess of Hohenstein (1812-1841) in white dress and wearing a triple strand of black pearls with a gold cl by Moritz Michael Daffinger. It changed hands for a price of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 3,325.61) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Moritz Michael Daffinger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work [A highly important miniature of Countess Elisaveta Ksaver'evna Vorontsova (1792-1880), leaning on her left elbow resting on multi-coloured cashemere stoles, her hand raised to her face, in brown dress with lace underdress and lace sleeves, jewelled s|AI
