Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A lady called Baroness von Wacquant-Geozelles, in purple velvet dress with white lace trim and gem-set brooch at corsage, the blue sash of a lady's order, possibly the Bavarian Order of St. Elizabeth, tied in a bow and pinned at her left shoulder wit by Moritz Michael Daffinger was sold in the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2009. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,400.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Moritz Michael Daffinger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work [A highly important miniature of Countess Elisaveta Ksaver'evna Vorontsova (1792-1880), leaning on her left elbow resting on multi-coloured cashemere stoles, her hand raised to her face, in brown dress with lace
