Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Montague Dawson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October last year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work 'The Fleet's Scout' sold for GBP 41,880.00 (€ 48,789.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Montague Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Montague Dawson erzielte im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Marine Sale wurde die Arbeit 'The Fleet's Scout' für GBP 41.880,00 (€ 48.789,74) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Montague Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
