The work Decks awash - 'Study for Gale Force Eight' by Montague Dawson was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in October last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 38,100.00 (€ 44,386.08), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Montague Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).

Die Arbeit Decks awash - 'Study for Gale Force Eight' von Montague Dawson wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 38.100,00 (€ 44.386,08) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Montague Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
