Admittedly, works by Montague Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).

Die Arbeit Chrysolite in full sail von Montague Dawson kam im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 48.180,00 (€ 56.129,17) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 38%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Montague Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
