Auction result misses estimated price range

In December last year a collector was able to acquire the work Under Easy Canvas, The Clipper Ship 'Wild Ranger' by Montague Dawson for GBP 37,800.00 (€ 42,672.52). This price was achieved in the auction British and European Art: Part 1 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Montague Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 in February 2006 with an auction result of USD 486,400.00 (€ 407,882.60).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Dezember letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Under Easy Canvas, The Clipper Ship 'Wild Ranger' von Montague Dawson für GBP 37.800,00 (€ 42.672,52) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British and European Art: Part 1 bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Montague Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The action between H.M.S. Shannon and the U.S.S. Chesapeake,1st June 1813 im Februar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 486.400,00 (€ 407.882,60).
