Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Bonhams in Hong Kong held the auction Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Toward Monastery by Min Wae Aung. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 44,625.00 (€ 4,963.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Min Wae Aung - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dusty Journey, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 93,750.00 (€ 10,242.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Bonhams in Hong Kong die Auktion Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Toward Monastery von Min Wae Aung zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 44.625,00 (€ 4.963,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Min Wae Aung mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dusty Journey beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für HKD 93.750,00 (€ 10.242,61) versteigert wurde.
