Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Nude With Long Torso (Reclining Nude), From Laurels Portfolio by Milton Avery was auctioned at Christies in New York in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,386.00 (€ 1,270.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Milton Avery achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Letter in May last year with an auction result of USD 6,069,500.00 (€ 5,656,043.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Nude With Long Torso (Reclining Nude), From Laurels Portfolio von Milton Avery im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.386,00 (€ 1.270,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Milton Avery erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Letter im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.069.500,00 (€ 5.656.043,24).
