Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ships Sailing Through a Channel by Millard Owen Sheets was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,650.00 (€ 7,410.64). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Millard Owen Sheets - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wild Horses of The Camargue, which sold at auction in April last year for USD 28,050.00 (€ 26,620.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ships Sailing Through a Channel von Millard Owen Sheets im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.650,00 (€ 7.410,64) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Millard Owen Sheets mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wild Horses of The Camargue beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für USD 28.050,00 (€ 26.620,48) versteigert wurde.
