Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Online | New York, which included the work Forever Free (Howta Conka Da Fowl World / Chill While You Spill) by Michael Ray Charles. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,668.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Ray Charles - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Forever Free, One And Another, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 100,000.00 (€ 89,694.14).

Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Online | New York durch, in der auch die Arbeit Forever Free (Howta Conka Da Fowl World / Chill While You Spill) von Michael Ray Charles zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.668,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael Ray Charles mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Forever Free, One And Another beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für USD 100.000,00 (€ 89.694,14) versteigert wurde.
