This artwork by Melvin Sokolsky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in May last year. In the Fashion Photographs from the Susanne von Meiss collection auction, the work Fly Stairs, Paris, 1965 sold for EUR 9,450.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Melvin Sokolsky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Paris 1963 in April 2012 with an auction result of USD 92,500.00 (€ 69,922.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Melvin Sokolsky erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fashion Photographs from the Susanne von Meiss collection wurde die Arbeit Fly Stairs, Paris, 1965 für EUR 9.450,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melvin Sokolsky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Paris 1963 im April 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 92.500,00 (€ 69.922,14).
