Auction result misses estimated price range

The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Meiffren Conte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A silver incense burner and sideboard dish, a silver-gilt ewer and vase with nautilus shells, a sabre and a jewelry box on a ledge draped with a velvet curtain, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 34,263.79).
