This artwork by May Guinness achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2001. In the The Irish Sale, Part II, including the Studio Collection of auction, the work Still Life of Flowers in a Jug sold for GBP 2,820.00 (€ 4,727.79) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by May Guinness; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still life with apples and a white cloth sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,656.33).
