Artwork auctioned at eight times the upper estimate price
When the work Still Life with Figure by Max Meldrum was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - AUD 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than eight times as high at AUD 9,840.00 (€ 5,897.76). Admittedly, works by Max Meldrum have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pacé in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 47,000.00 (€ 28,172.21).
Kunstwerk zum Achtfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Still Life with Figure von Max Meldrum im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – AUD 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit AUD 9.840,00 (€ 5.897,76) mehr als achtmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Max Meldrum auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pacé im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 47.000,00 (€ 28.172,21).
