Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landschaft by Max Kaus was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,730.62). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Kaus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work „Frauenbildnis (Turu)“. in June 2017 with an auction result of EUR 87,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landschaft von Max Kaus im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.730,62) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Kaus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit „Frauenbildnis (Turu)“. im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 87.500,00.
