The work ‘Draughting A Bill At The Board Of Trade’ (‘Mr Churchill: “Oh, I Understand All These Figures, Right Enough. What We’Ve Got To Do, Gentlemen, Is To Put Some - Er - Humanising Ginger Into ’Em”’) by Max Beerbohm was worth GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,310.27) to a buyer in March 2018. This price was achieved in the auction The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Max Beerbohm; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot 'Mr Churchill' sold at auction in March 2018 with the realized price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).
