Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three spheres I (Drie bollen I) (B.336) by Maurits Cornelis Escher was sold in the Twentieth Century Art including Belgian Art auction at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2003. It changed hands for a price of EUR 5,736.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
