The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,712.37) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Belvedere von Maurits Cornelis Escher wurde im Oktober 2013 in der Auktion Prints & Multiples bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 14.712,37) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurits Cornelis Escher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Reptiles (Bool 327) im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 756.000,00 (€ 717.471,77).
