Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Travel & Exploration, which included the work Four portraits of Burmese sitters including a priest, elderly woman, and a smoking man and woman by Maung Su Yatanabon. It changed hands for a price of GBP 765.00 (€ 890.09) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maung Su Yatanabon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A set of four portrait studies of Burmese sitters including a cigar smoker and cheroot smoker, a priest and a priestess each 32 x 25.1cm (12 5/8 x 9 7/8in). (4) all mounted but unframed, which sold at auction in March last year for GBP 1,912.50 (€ 2,267.48).
