Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Maung Su Yatanabon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in March last year. In the Travel & Exploration auction, the work A set of four portrait studies including two Chinese elders and two Kachin elders each 32 x 25.1cm (12 5/8 x 9 7/8in). (4) all mounted but unframed sold for GBP 1,657.50 (€ 1,965.15) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Maung Su Yatanabon; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A set of four portrait studies of Burmese sitters including a cigar smoker and cheroot smoker, a priest and a priestess each 32 x 25.1cm (12 5/8 x 9 7/8in). (4) all mounted but unframed sold at auction in March last year with the realized price of GBP 1,912.50 (€ 2,267.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
