Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Light & Film (From Library) by Matt Lipps was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,788.00 (€ 3,980.05). Other works by Matt Lipps have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2018 by the work Camera at USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,606.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Light & Film (From Library) von Matt Lipps im April 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.788,00 (€ 3.980,05) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Matt Lipps wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Februar 2018 die Arbeit Camera mit USD 5.625,00 (€ 4.606,50).
