Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Beatrice of Dundee in Smyrna Bay, Sept.r. 17th, 1832 by Mathieu-Antoine Roux was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,800.00 – 2,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,361.42). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mathieu-Antoine Roux - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spanische Bark "Iginio S. Capto. Tom. Randich" vor Marseille, which sold at auction in March 2006 for EUR 4,760.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Beatrice of Dundee in Smyrna Bay, Sept.r. 17th, 1832 von Mathieu-Antoine Roux im November 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.800,00 – 2.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.645,00 (€ 2.361,42) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Mathieu-Antoine Roux mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Spanische Bark "Iginio S. Capto. Tom. Randich" vor Marseille beobachtet, die im März 2006 für EUR 4.760,00 versteigert wurde.
