In November 2010 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A French barque sailing to windward in the Mediterranean by Mathieu-Antoine Roux. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,941.87), 35% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mathieu-Antoine Roux - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spanische Bark "Iginio S. Capto. Tom. Randich" vor Marseille, which sold at auction in March 2006 for EUR 4,760.00.

Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen

Im November 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A French barque sailing to windward in the Mediterranean von Mathieu-Antoine Roux zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.941,87) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mathieu-Antoine Roux mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Spanische Bark "Iginio S. Capto. Tom. Randich" vor Marseille beobachtet, die im März 2006 für EUR 4.760,00 versteigert wurde.
