Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Magen David (Star Of David) by Mathias Goeritz was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 162,500.00 (€ 153,620.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mathias Goeritz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mensaje, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 466,000.00 (€ 441,204.32).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Magen David (Star Of David) von Mathias Goeritz kam im November 2016 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 162.500,00 (€ 153.620,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Mathias Goeritz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mensaje beobachtet, die im November 2015 für USD 466.000,00 (€ 441.204,32) versteigert wurde.
