Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Empire'S Lurch by Martin Puryear was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 687,500.00 (€ 563,801.87) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Martin Puryear - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 1,805,000.00 (€ 1,323,313.78).

Die Arbeit Empire'S Lurch von Martin Puryear kam im Mai 2021 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 687.500,00 (€ 563.801,87) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Martin Puryear mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für USD 1.805.000,00 (€ 1.323.313,78) versteigert wurde.
