Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jugo-Slavs And Italians, Detention Room, Ellis Island by Martha Walter was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,322.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martha Walter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pink Umbrella in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 266,500.00 (€ 189,262.13).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jugo-Slavs And Italians, Detention Room, Ellis Island von Martha Walter im April 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.322,45) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martha Walter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pink Umbrella im September 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 266.500,00 (€ 189.262,13).
