Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Autumn by Marten van Valckenborch I. Here, the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 86,500.00 (€ 66,268.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marten van Valckenborch I - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond, which sold at auction in December 2003 for GBP 117,250.00 (€ 166,069.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Autumn von Marten van Valckenborch I zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 86.500,00 (€ 66.268,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Marten van Valckenborch I mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für GBP 117.250,00 (€ 166.069,26) versteigert wurde.
