Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Pastoral Summer Landscape by Marten van Valckenborch I was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,766.36). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marten van Valckenborch I - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond, which sold at auction in December 2003 for GBP 117,250.00 (€ 166,069.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Pastoral Summer Landscape von Marten van Valckenborch I im Juli 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 62.766,36) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Marten van Valckenborch I mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für GBP 117.250,00 (€ 166.069,26) versteigert wurde.
