The work An extensive, mountainous, river landscape, with Abraham and the Angels by Marten van Valckenborch I was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2019. The result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 32,938.01) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Marten van Valckenborch I have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 117,250.00 (€ 166,069.26).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit An extensive, mountainous, river landscape, with Abraham and the Angels von Marten van Valckenborch I wurde im Juli 2019 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 32.938,01) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marten van Valckenborch I auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An extensive river landscape with peasants haymaking, a view of Arenberg Castle beyond im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 117.250,00 (€ 166.069,26).
