Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Marsden Hartley could be acquired at Christies in New York in November 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Flowers from a Lonely Child - for Mary of the Volcanoes changed hands for USD 375,000.00 (€ 332,240.63) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marsden Hartley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pre-War Pageant in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 27,395,000.00 (€ 24,194,118.17).
