Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Marilyn by Mark Lancaster was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 211.50 (€ 345.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Lancaster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 7,539.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Marilyn von Mark Lancaster kam im Dezember 2001 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 211,50 (€ 345,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Lancaster erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 7.539,35).
