This artwork by Mario Joseph Korbel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in June 2014. In the An American Dynasty: The Clark Family Treasures auction, the work Portrait Reliefs of Margaret Illington Bowes (1879-1934) and Major Edward Bowes (1874-1946) sold for USD 5,250.00 (€ 3,834.92) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mario Joseph Korbel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Andante' (Dancing Girls) in September 2012 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 48,615.43).
