Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Luciana, 1994 by Mário Cravo Neto was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,625.00 (€ 1,388.18). Admittedly, works by Mário Cravo Neto have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Luciana in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,504.13).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Luciana, 1994 von Mário Cravo Neto im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.625,00 (€ 1.388,18) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mário Cravo Neto auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Luciana im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.504,13).
