Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A bather in contemplation by Maria Szantho was sold in the British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper auction at Christies in London in August 2003. The price achieved of GBP 940.00 (€ 1,349.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maria Szantho achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hungarian Dreaming Of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves in March 2009 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,175.25).
