Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by María Berrío achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April last year. In the Contemporary Evening Auction auction, the work Our Children on the Battlefield sold for HKD 9,450,000.00 (€ 1,142,573.79) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 3,500,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by María Berrío; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not sold at auction in November last year with the realized price of USD 1,603,000.00 (€ 1,552,843.17).

Dieses Kunstwerk von María Berrío erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Evening Auction wurde die Arbeit Our Children on the Battlefield für HKD 9.450.000,00 (€ 1.142.573,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 3.500.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von María Berrío; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not im November letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 1.603.000,00 (€ 1.552.843,17).
