This artwork by Margaret Mellis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2020. In the The Delighted Eye: Works from the Collection of Allen and Beryl Freer auction, the work Two Dog Roses sold for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,789.78) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Margaret Mellis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Scarlet Undercurrent sold at auction in June 2017 with the realized price of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,470.34).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Margaret Mellis erzielte im Januar 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Delighted Eye: Works from the Collection of Allen and Beryl Freer wurde die Arbeit Two Dog Roses für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.789,78) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Margaret Mellis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Scarlet Undercurrent im Juni 2017 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.470,34).
