This artwork by Margaret Mellis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2020. In the The Delighted Eye: Works from the Collection of Allen and Beryl Freer auction, the work Rapallo, Italy sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,842.33) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Margaret Mellis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Scarlet Undercurrent sold at auction in June 2017 with the realized price of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,470.34).
