Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Le lasso by Marcel Jean was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 33,280.00 (€ 30,509.72). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marcel Jean - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La lune d'Eiffel, which sold at auction in March 2021 for GBP 94,000.00 (€ 110,425.79).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Le lasso von Marcel Jean im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 5.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 33.280,00 (€ 30.509,72) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Marcel Jean mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La lune d'Eiffel beobachtet, die im März 2021 für GBP 94.000,00 (€ 110.425,79) versteigert wurde.
