In October 2019 Christies in Paris held the auction Paris Avant-Garde, which included the work L.H.O.O.Q. by Marcel Duchamp. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 922,000.00 54% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Marcel Duchamp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Belle haleine - Eau de voilette in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 8,913,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Paris Avant-Garde durch, in der auch die Arbeit L.H.O.O.Q. von Marcel Duchamp zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 922.000,00 und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Marcel Duchamp auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Belle haleine - Eau de voilette im Februar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 8.913.000,00.
