Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
The work An Original Revolutionary Faucet: Mirrorical Return by Marcel Duchamp was worth USD 75,600.00 (€ 68,478.26) to a buyer in April this year. This price was achieved in the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 12,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcel Duchamp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Belle haleine - Eau de voilette in February 2009 with an auction result of EUR 8,913,000.00.
