In November 2012 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work The Mill Stream; A Glimpse Of The Water Through The Trees by Manly Edward MacDonald. It changed hands for a price of CAD 11,400.00 (€ 8,822.95) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of CAD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00.
